When faced with overwhelming emotions in times of trouble know that others care and pray for you. Many feelings may be expressed: fear, anger, anxiety, disbelief and shock.

Why is this happening to me?

We may not be there to hug you, wipe your tears or help you physically…but we promise to hold you in prayer. God is near. And his word gives us all hope!

FEAR

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear: I will help you. Isaiah 41:13

ANXIETY

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy. Psalm 94:19

SHOCK/DISBELIEF

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. Psalm 57:1

In you, Lord my God, I put my trust. Psalm 25:1

STRENGTH

No word from God will ever fail. Luke 1:37

I love you, Lord, my strength. Psalm 18:1

My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. Psalm 119:28

PEACE

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3
