Within This Woman’s House

How many times have we prayed words such as these:

“God please help me!”

“Dear Lord, watch over my son, husband, daughter, mother, friend...”

“Bring me peace Lord.”

“God, help me understand. Why God? Why did this happen?!”

Your words reach heaven, every one of them. We pray humbly.

We are hopeful. And, often we are tearful.

Sometimes the quiet response scares us.

Is God listening?

Did he hear me the first time? The second time?

You call out again.

“Lord did you hear me? I am in pain, please help me.”

God hears our requests when we cry out to him. He hears us.

He says so in his word.

Psalm 91:15 He will call on me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him

Psalm 120:1 I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me

Isaiah 65:24 Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear

Life is filled with many ups and downs.

The people we live with might have health or personal issues.

Colleagues at work might be suffering.

But do we communicate enough with those around us so that we know what they are experiencing? Life can be a rollercoaster.

Sometimes we forget unless we face it on a regular basis.

People we know and love are on rollercoasters too.

Paul reminds us what we must put into practice to receive peace from God.

Philippians 4:8-9 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Why is it that we try to follow the logic in our minds?

Or another person’s opinion of what steps we must take to solve an issue in our life, to figure out a confusing relationship or to instruct us on what to do?

Logically it makes sense that we seek answers from friends and family. Sometimes we question our own reasoning. We can feel guilt or shame because we go back to square one over and over. Why is that?

Why do we allow ourselves to fail? Why is change so difficult?

It is not God’s intention for us to fail - ever. But we must follow his way, not our way. Luke 1:37 For no word from God will ever fail.

Someone once told me that everything they needed to know about life was in the bible. All questions can be answered from God’s word. And I do believe that is true.

When we follow that wisdom it is natural to draw near to God.

And it is God’s will that we draw unto Him.

Although it is his desire to take care of our every need, not every request will be answered. We have heard that God’s ways are not our ways. Many times the hurt remains and we do not understand.

God knows our hurt. He wants to take our hand and walk us through the situation or circumstance. However, we must understand…and accept… that not every request will be answered the way we want. Our Father knows best.

Recently I saw a sign “Wise men still seek Him”.

When we truly seek God, and desire him, he plants his very presence in us.

He will guide, uphold and carry us through the walk.
